Facebook App Overview

We are extremely excited about the new SeeClickFix Facebook App! To help you better navigate our application, we thought we would break it down for you section by section.

Issues

Hotness: Determined by how much recent activity (comments, votes, etc…) an issue receives.

Date Reported: Sorts issues by date posted with the most recent issues appearing first.

Rating: Determined by how much activity (comments, votes, etc…) an issue has received.

In this tab, you can also click the "Follow Location" on the right side of the page to start receiving email alerts for a certain geographical area. You can receive alerts about any activity happening in that community, or you can choose to filter for certain keywords, like "pothole."

Neighbors

Search for SeeClickFix users in your area by clicking on the "Neighbors" tab to see what issues they recently reported and how many Civic Points they have earned. We award Civic Points based on your activity on our site, including when you sign up, report an issue, upload an image, and getting an issue you reported fixed.

Watch Area

Watch Areas are geographic boundaries for which you ( a public official, community leader, or anyone in the world) will be notified when new issues are reported in the area. To create your own watch area, click the "Create a Watch Area" tab. Give your watch area a title, like "New Haven" or "Safe Streets Coalition," and assign it the email address (or addresses) you want to receive alerts.

You can filter your watch area for keywords. For example, if you enter the keywords [street tree banana], you will create a watch area that includes only those issues containing the word "street" OR "tree" OR "banana" in the issue summary or description. Similarly, you can filter for negative keywords by adding a hyphen before a keyword like [-pothole] and it will exclude all issues containing that word. Putting quotations around words, like ["ugly graffiti"], will include only those results matching that entire phrase.

You also have the option of making your watch area public or private. Public watch areas can be viewed by any SeeClickFix user while private watch areas can only be seen by the creator.

Report an Issue

When you click "Report an Issue," drag the red marker to the issue location and click "Report here!" You can zoom in or out on the map to better pinpoint the location of your issue. When reporting an issue, you must submit an issue "Summary," such as "Large pothole on this street," and the correct street address. You can provide additional details about the issue in the "Description" section, and even upload an image of the issue.

Settings

When using the SeeClickFix Facebook app, you can either allow or deny posting notifications to your wall. Share with your friends when you create a new issue, vote for an issue to be fixed, and/or when you follow a new place. This helps create awareness about your issue and increases the likelihood of it being fixed.
